Healthcare Integration with Mirth Connect
Mirth Connect channels for secure health-data exchange between two critical hospital systems, an automated SIU (HL7) capture pipeline into PostgreSQL, and a React console to run and monitor it all.
The challenge
Two critical hospital systems (SAFIR and CRDS) needed to exchange health data reliably and securely, but there was no standard pipe between them. Separately, SIU (HL7) scheduling messages weren’t being captured anywhere that analytics could use, and there was little visibility into whether interfaces were healthy.
Approach
- Mirth Connect channels between the two systems, with custom Java / JavaScript filters for validation and routing so only conformant messages pass.
- An automated SIU (HL7) pipeline that extracts the critical fields from scheduling messages and lands them in PostgreSQL.
- A modern React console to configure, run and monitor the Mirth channels — replacing guesswork with a live status view.
Result
Health data moves between the critical systems on a secure, validated path; integration errors dropped; new interfaces ship faster because the pattern and tooling are in place; and channel health is visible at a glance.
Confirm whether the system names (SAFIR, CRDS) should stay or be anonymised, and add message volumes / go-live timing via the admin panel.
